Belgian solutions is an ongoing, open collection of photos, which I present since 2008, first mainly on
Facebook and then also on
an own website,
in a book, exhibitions and on my phone, if you talk to me in the streets.
The books are published by
UITGEVERIJ LUSTER (Antwerpen).

Belgian solutions is first of all a title, that became a way of speaking: “Look, a Belgian solution.”
It all started with me not stopping to take pictures of situations
that I later began publishing on Facebook under this title. After some
time people were sending me more and more photos, not only from Belgium
of course, but from all over the globe, pictures that in very different
and individual ways always kept saying: “Look, a Belgian solution.” or
simply: “Look, a solution.”
Since I changed the project to a facebook page, everyone with an
account on this social networking site could upload their own photos,
their own ‘object trouvés’. Meanwhile the page contains really a lot of
photos, endless series of beautiful proofs of our obsession to document
the absurd and funny, the clever, smart and wild solutions of daily
survival.
A book with 300 images of Belgian solutions, including 40 photos of page members, was published in 2013 for the first time. Already before the launch the book had received national and international media coverage and was then sold out twice in 5 months.
The third edition will be published by LUSTER (Antwerpen) in October 2015.
